A classic - Jaws Reviews
Spawning three sequels and countless inferior imitations, Jaws became the father of the modern-day summer blockbuster by combining the right elements of horror, adventure, and a little humor.
Horror dominates the first half of the film, as a 25-foot Great White Shark terrorizes Amity Island, a small New England resort. Director Steven Spielberg creates the perfect amount of suspense by showing us the shark's P.O.V. as he chomps on a female skinny dipper, a little boy, and two fishermen.
The second half of the movie focuses on the party assigned to hunt down the beast, led by Amity Police Cheif Brody (Roy Scheider), who happens to be afraid of water and boats. He takes along rich-boy shark expert Matt Hooper(Richard Dreyfuss), and hard-edged and eccentric shark hunter Quint (played brilliantly by the late Robert Shaw). The three stars have a brilliant chemistry aboard the Orca, Quint's reliable but undersized vessel.
Jaws proves that you don't need CG wizardry to create an engaging story and one bad-ass villain
